tracking issue for DEFLATE compression quality / performance tradeoff

Already pretty happy with compression, so this point is not particularly important to us.
Still wanted to share our numbers:
All with dense: true, in case that makes a difference.
10 columns, 883.407 rows, just numbers, one string column, 90% of numbers are the same

  • Compression OFF: 295 MB
  • Compression ON: 78 MB
    • 26% compression ratio
  • Resaved with Excel 36 MB
    • 12% compression ratio

So compared to default Excel, there is ~14% compression ratio left on the table (for this specific dataset).
